Challenge Question

Cancer in Uganda is becoming quite prevalent among the citizens. According to the Globocan cancer statistics report of 2018, there were 56,238 people were living with cancer, and 32,000 new cases and 21,000 deaths caused by cancer occurred in 2018. In not more than 500 words, what do you think are the factors contributing to the rising levels of cancer among Ugandans and as we commemorate the World Cancer Day 2022, what do you think can be done to effectively reduce and manage cancer in Uganda?

Developing Your Essay

We recommend that you take your time to develop your submission in Ms. Word before you paste it in the application form. Develop your essay as a one-page, not more than 500 words, Times New Roman, Size 12, single-spaced and Justified. After you have completed your essay, you will be able to copy it and paste it in the PDF application form that you can download here: for new applicants and registered/returning students.

Registering & Submitting Your Essay

1. New Entrants

Register & Upload Your Essay

a) Make sure you have a PDF reader like Adobe Acrobat installed on the computer you are using.

b) Download the registration form here which is a fillable PDF form and fill in all your personal details on page.

c) Proceed to page 2 and enter your essay in the box provided. Since you are registering, leave the registration field blank, we will send you your registration ID once we receive your application.

d) Once you have filled in all the fields, save your PDF form as your name: eg. JohnKizito and email it as an attachment with a recent picture of yourself to info@youth-rising.org

2. Registered/Returning Students

Upload Your Essay

a) If you have participated in the competition before, simply download the form for registered students here and fill in all the details including your registration number. Note that Your application will be rejected if you submit this form without a registration ID.

b) Once you have filled in all the fields, save your PDF form as your name: eg. JohnKizito and email it as an attachment to info@youth-rising.org.
